The Fat Carter is a stylish briefcase designed to fulfil the functions of a work bag with the advantage that it can also be used as an overnight bag, perfect for the travelling business person. Its size allows you to carry A4 documents, a 15-inch computer or items of clothing. The 5 internal compartments are great for storing any personal objects such as agendas or electronic devices. The outside contains a pocket with magnetic closure for your keys, smartphone or other items that need to be easily accessible. Its handles allow you to carry it by hand as a briefcase or hands free, using the detachable shoulder strap. The secure leather strap on the back of the bag is ideal for slotting onto the handle of your suitcase, making travelling that little bit more efficient.
This briefcase is made by artisans in a Spanish village called Ubrique - a hub of craftsmanship renowned for quality since the 19th century - Ubrique is where many of the world’s most discerning luxury brands have their leather produced.
La Portegna’s leather is vegetable tanned with a unique blend of natural tannins and colour compounds from Spanish flowers and tree bark. The leather is then treated with Spanish olive oil to nourish, soften and to make it more robust.
This all-natural process has two benefits - it results in beautiful looking leather that develops a unique ‘patina’ over time – it quite literally gets better with age, and is unquestionably kinder to the environment, unlike the more commonly used chrome tanning processes.
